Summary

Rated R, Adventure, War, 154 Minutes

This was a good movie but it really could have been a lot better. The movie references heavily on Apolcaypse Now, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, and some from The Bridge Over the River Kwai but not nearly as cleverly as they do in Lilyhammer (Netflix series which is a little campy but quite good).  Plus, Netflix should impose some structure on their directors. Scorsese and Lee have each gone well over two hours for films that should have been much tighter. I am not sorry I watched the film but I was glad not to have seen it in a theater so I could break it up with a snack or a walk.  The actors are a treat but the script and the directing could have been better.
What I Liked
  • Always good to see Delroy Lindo but he had great company in the movie
  • Beautiful Cinematography
What I Didn’t
  • The movie plods along in many places
  • Needed better editing
